Easy Crockpot Pork Tenderloin Recipe

This slow cooker pork tenderloin is a simple dish that makes the most of the convenience of crockpot cooking. Pork tenderloin, is naturally a tender and lean cut of meat, yet it’s still a convenient option for slow cooking. When cooking it low and slow it allows the meat to absorb the flavors of the seasoning rub, and barbecue sauce. You may also choose to add vegetables to the pot such as carrots, celery and potatoes. The result is a meal that’s both hearty and flavor packed, with minimal hands-on time, making it ideal for busy days. This method yields a moist, flavorful pork tenderloin with a delicious thick barbecue glaze. How to make barbecue pork tenderloin in a crockpot: (Scroll down for full printable recipe.)

How to Make the BEST Crockpot Pork Tenderloin Recipe

  • Key Ingredients you’ll need to make homemade Crockpot Pork Tenderloin: 2 1/2-3 pounds pork tenderloin (two pieces), light brown sugar, dark chili powder, salt, lemon pepper, smoked paprika, granulated garlic, onion powder, ground cumin, onion, barbecue sauce (use your favorite), tomato paste.
  • Kitchen tools you’ll need: 6 quart or similar slow cooker, measuring cups and spoons, sharp knife and cutting board and small bowl.
  • It’s important to trim the pork to remove any silver skin or excess fat from the pork tenderloin.
  • Liquid – It’s not necessary to add additional cooking liquid apart from the barbecue sauce. That said, should you choose to add more vegetables to the mix you could add 1/2-1 cup of chicken, beef, or vegetable stock, wine, apple cider, or teriyaki sauce.
  • I recommend taking a few minutes to sear the seasonings onto the tenderloin in a hot skillet with a bit of oil for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. This step adds a nice caramelization.
  • Cooking time: The pork tenderloin is cooked on low heat for 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on how your appliance performs. The rule of thumb is to cook the pork until it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F with an instant read thermometer. The slow cooking process makes the meat incredibly tender, allowing it to easily shred or slice.
  • The best barbecue sauce to use is one that you already enjoy. A thicker sauce works best.
  • Serving: Once cooked, the pork can be sliced or shredded and served with the vegetables and some of the cooking liquid. It pairs well with side dishes like mashed potatoes, rice, or a fresh salad. Slice the tenderloin into medallions and serve with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread, or roasted vegetables.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container chilled in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • You can freeze cooked pork tenderloin for up to 2 months.
