
Shankarpali also known as Shakkar Para is a traditional Diwali Snack usually made during festivities like Diwali. This crunchy, flaky deep-fried snack is also a great tea time snack.
A pre-made stock of Shakkar Para is also a very handy munching snack for the ever hungry kids! Shakkar Para can be made savoury as well as sweet. For this sweet version, lightly sweetened wheat dough with jaggery is rolled out and cut into diamonds or squares and then deep fried till crisp.
For crisp Shakkar Para roll out the dough as thin as you can. For a slightly soft, chewy texture make thicker pieces. Fry on a low-medium flame so that the pieces are cooked through. You can also optionally dust it with with cinnamon sugar.
Serve Shakkar Para as a tea time snack or or even make it as a snack for Diwali.
